This website

CupClarity provides articles and tools that can be read without an account, plus optional free member notebooks and moderated community recipes. We may display labelled sponsored image advertisements. These placements do not set advertising cookies or run third-party ad scripts. External image hosts receive connection information when images load; advertiser websites apply their own privacy policies when you follow a link. Selected articles contain clearly disclosed promotional links to NettyPro, a store under common ownership.

Optional Google Analytics

When you accept analytics, we load Google Analytics 4 to understand page visits, traffic sources, engagement and general device and browser information. Google may process connection information, including your IP address, to provide the service. We do not send account names, email addresses or other directly identifying profile information to Analytics.

Analytics uses first-party cookies, including _ga and a stream-specific _ga_ cookie, to distinguish browsers and sessions. Google Analytics is not loaded before you accept. Google signals and advertising personalization are disabled in our site configuration.

Tool usage measurement

With analytics consent, we measure tool visits, repeat use, valid calculations, recipe save/load/compare/export actions and worksheet link clicks and clicks on disclosed NettyPro promotional links. Partner-click events contain the store identifier and article campaign identifier, not form inputs. Custom events contain operation types and tool identifiers, not recipe names, notes or input quantities. A last-visit timestamp for each tool is stored locally for up to 180 days to recognize visits at least 30 minutes apart. Rejecting analytics removes these timestamps; saved recipes remain separate.

Your choice

You can accept or reject analytics and change your choice through “Cookie preferences” at the bottom of any page. We store that preference in your browser for up to 180 days. Each of our websites stores its own choice. Rejecting analytics does not prevent you from reading the website.

If you withdraw consent after accepting, we disable our Analytics stream, expire its cookies on this domain and reload the page to stop the loaded analytics library. Clearing browser storage will also reset your preference. Previously collected data is not automatically deleted by changing this preference.

Tools and saved recipes

Recipes stay in this browser when you save them. Share links contain your inputs; only share what you want others to see. You can delete a saved recipe in its tool, or clear browser storage to remove all saved recipes. At most five recipes are retained per tool. Calculations do not require an account.

Optional member accounts and community

We store your username, display name, salted password hash and hashed recovery code. The same account works across our coffee and tea publications; each publication has a separate notebook and login session. Essential secure, HttpOnly member cookies expire after 30 days. Member and community pages do not load Google Analytics. Temporary keyed rate-limit identifiers are retained for up to one day.

Local saves remain in your browser. Choosing “Save to cloud notebook” or importing local recipes sends the selected values, title and notes to our server. Cloud recipes are private by default, with up to 50 per site. Optional brew journals store your taste ratings, observations and next adjustments privately, with up to 1,000 entries per account. They are included in notebook exports and deleted with the recipe or account. Private notes are not included in public posts or the moderation interface. Photos are resized, re-encoded and stripped of embedded metadata. Avoid personal information in photos or public descriptions.

Only when you submit for publication do moderators review your title, values, photo and public description. Approved posts show your display name and can be indexed and shared. Comments are reviewed before appearing; reports are private. Public content may be copied by other people or search engines. Unpublishing removes access on our site, but cannot remove third-party copies.

Use account settings to change your display name or password, export each notebook, or delete your account and its content across both publications. Recovery requires the code shown at registration; we do not collect an account email. We retain account content until you delete it or we remove it under our community guidelines. Restricted deployment backups may retain deleted records for up to 30 days. Security and moderation logs help us investigate misuse. Contact us for privacy requests.

Hosting

Our hosting and delivery providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, requests and security logs to deliver and protect the website.

External websites

When you follow an external link, the destination website’s own privacy practices apply.

Private feedback

Our feedback form stores the topic, message and any name, page URL or reply email you choose to provide. Submissions are kept in a private database on our server and accessed through a password-protected administrative service to handle questions, corrections and privacy requests. They are not published as comments or sent to Google Analytics. Providing a reply email is optional.

We use a temporary, keyed identifier derived from connection information to limit abusive submission rates. Our hosting providers may separately keep security logs. We keep feedback for handling enquiries and editorial follow-up; you can request deletion through the feedback form using your submission reference. Administrative sessions use a separate secure login cookie on the console subdomain.

Updates

We will update this notice if we introduce advertising or other data collection.
