Check shape, size and seating before treating slow drainage as a grinder problem.

Match the brewer before the number
Write down the brewer brand, model and size. Filter numbers belong to a product system; a similar number on another brand is not a compatibility promise. A cone, a flat-bottom basket and a pleated wave filter are different shapes. Start with the brewer manufacturer’s recommended filter rather than choosing by how the package looks.
Inspect a dry fit
Place one filter in the clean, empty brewer according to its instructions. Look for large folds, a rim that interferes with pouring or a bottom that cannot sit as intended. Do not trim or force an incompatible filter to make a package usable. Check whether the instructions call for folding a seam before deciding that the fit is wrong.
Keep the paper change visible in your notes
When changing filter supplier, keep the beans, dose and main recipe stable. Baratza’s V60 guide discusses filter choice as one contributor to drainage and taste. That does not establish that thinner paper is always better. A change in brew behavior is a reason to record the new paper and compare, not immediately replace the grinder.
Separate fit from flow
A filter can fit correctly but drain differently from your previous paper. A slow brew can also involve grind distribution, dose and pouring. Note whether the slowdown begins immediately or after a particular pour. Change one plausible cause next time. Do not press on a hot filter to speed drainage or keep pouring into a nearly full brewer.
Work out the recurring cost
Divide the delivered package price by its usable filter count. Include shipping when comparing offers, and check the quantity selected at checkout. If a cheaper pack does not fit, its unit price is irrelevant. Reusable filters eliminate the paper purchase but add their own cleaning and replacement considerations.
Store the information that saves a repeat search
Save a photograph of the package label and your brewer model together. Record the paper shape, size and any seam-folding instruction. You will have a specific reference when a listing changes its title. We have not measured flow rates or ranked filter brands; this is a selection and comparison checklist.
